  • Read and interpret blueprints or CAD drawings of parts to be cast.
  • Incorporate the appropriate shrinkage factor for that material for final pattern dimensions.
  • Program computerized numerical control machine tools.
  • Set up and operate appropriate machine tools or woodworking machines
  • Clean and finish patterns or templates, using emery cloths, files, scrapers, and power grinders, apply oil, shellac, lacquer, wax, or paint
  • Assemble pattern sections, using hand tools, bolts, screws, rivets, glue, or welding equipment
  • Verify dimensions of completed patterns, using templates, straightedges, calipers, or protractors
  • Repair and rework templates and patterns
