Understands safe work practices
Understands required PPE, safe use of air hoses, jacks, jack stands, lifts, roll-up doors and other shop equipment
Knows location of the MSDS, eye wash stations, fire extinguishers, spill kits, and other safety equipment. Keep work areas clean and organized.
Understands use of used oil and coolant drums and other SOPs for managing hazardous materials
Can safely R&I wheels and jump start vehicles. Consistently wears all required PPE for the job and immediately reports safety hazards to supervisors
Repair Planning
Knows the names of basic vehicle components and their locations on the vehicle. Knows which components are bolt-on or weld-on.
Understands how to read a repair estimate including labor types, operations, hours, part types, sublet operations , and repair notes.
Compares estimated damages to actual vehicle damages and can identify when additional repairs or parts may be required.
Prepares supplements including repair method changes and additional repairs needed. Can identify necessary clips, hardware, and materials.
Reads and understands repair procedure documents and can apply the information to repairs being performed.
Disassembly
Disassembles bumpers, lamps, grilles, splash shields, moldings, etc. without causing additional vehicle damage. Uses proper bag and tag procedures.
Separates damaged from undamaged parts and properly utilizes parts carts. Protects/stores components per Caliber SOP to prevent damage.
Drains and refills engine cooling system. Properly performs A/C refrigerant recovery. Removes A/C condenser and radiator assembly to expose hidden damage.
Disassembles/detrims complex components like doors without damaging parts and uses proper bag and tag procedures.
Properly completes 100% teardowns, including blend panels, and separates R&I from R&R parts, including one-time-use parts.
