  • Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operators.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
  • Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
  • Confirms parts availability on orders and reports shortages to supervision.
  • Performs self-inspection on work and signs off on routing sheet.
  • Uses overhead crane and fork truck to move equipment as required.
  • Read work orders and/or receive instructions from supervisor to determine work requirements.
  • Informs Engineering of any design problems during assembly.
  • Put time to jobs using computer-based system.
  • Requisition and store materials and supplies needed to maintain inventory of necessary supplies.
  • Keep work area neat and clean.
  • Assist in other areas of the department as business needs dictate.
  • Additional projects and responsibilities assigned by management.
