Connects with families and children to make them feel welcomed, safe and respected
Provides clear and consistent behavioral expectations and minimize transitions by assuring classroom organization through intentional preparation
Supervises and facilitates children’s involvement in all learning environment’s using a variety of modalities
Work under the guidance and direction of the Lead Teacher to ensure growth in the area of child development
Maintains a positive climate and is responsive to child perspectives
Engages in adult child interactions, encouraging self- help skills and encouraging peer interactions during family style meals
Assessment and Curriculum
Incorporates children's interests, culture, School Readiness goals, State Guidelines, physical activity recommendations and program curricula into individualized and group learning opportunities.
Embraces, promotes and participates in bi-lingual curriculum delivery outlined by the facility.
Promote children's love of language, culture, learning and playing alongside each other to prepare for success in school making a safe, caring and respectful environment where children are able to express themselves.
Health and Nutrition
In partnership with Lead Teacher, ensures implementation of child screenings within required timeframes based upon age.
Keeps records of health and development status of child to promote timely health care.
Assures on-going follow up and related documentation in a timely manner related to unmet health outcomes.
Models healthy eating habits and tooth brushing.
Models physical activity by being physically active.
Assures cleaning, sanitation and disinfectant procedures are followed to promote healthy habits within the classroom environment.
Partners with Lead Teacher and families supporting parent-child relationships
Participates in outreach to parents for involvement with curriculum planning
Demonstrates respectful interest in learning about each family’s values, beliefs, faith traditions, cultural influences, family structure and circumstances
Notifies Lead Teacher of education topics that need to be addressed.
Supports Lead Teacher and families in crisis by identifying options and resources.
Program involvement, leadership, advocacy and social connections
Assist Lead Teacher in orienting parents and other volunteers, encourage parent participation and visitation in the classroom, attend parent meetings as requested and/or provide childcare as needed
Actively supports and promotes parent participation on child care facility sponsored enrichment activities community events
Educates parents on available child care facility services.
Practice safe working habits and contribute to a safe and peaceable workplace
Assist Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a daily age appropriate program that meets the needs of groups of children as well as individuals, providing for their health, safety and education
Ensure the safety of children at all times. Never leave a child unattended or unsupervised
Recognize and report signs of illness and other concerns to supervisor
Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and developmentally appropriate environment for children
Assures required emergency procedures are practiced and communicated with families
Promotes protective factors to prevent child abuse and neglect; identifies and refers families to the Dept. of Health and Human Services Child Protection Services
Contributes to effective program practices and interdisciplinary approaches
Become familiar with facility’s child development philosophy, plans and policies, and mission, vision, and values.ept. of Health and Human Services Child Protection Services
Contributes to effective, purpose and respectful team communications to promote continuous program improvement
Assist Lead Teacher in orienting parents and other volunteers, encourage parent participation and visitation in the classroom, attend parent meetings as requested and/or provide child care as needed
Assume classroom responsibility in absence of Lead Teacher as assigned
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with center staff, parents and community
Participate in staff or related meetings as requested
Work cooperatively as a team member, assisting where needed in the center
